Asif Ali Zardari is a Pakistani politician who served as the 11th President of Pakistan from 2008 to 2013. He was also the co-chairman of the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) along with his wife, Benazir Bhutto, until her assassination in 2007.
Zardari was born on July 26, 1955, in Nawabshah, Sindh, Pakistan. He studied at St. Patrick’s School in Karachi and then went on to study business at a college in London.
In 1987, Zardari married Benazir Bhutto, who became the first female Prime Minister of Pakistan in 1988. Zardari was later accused of corruption during her time in office and spent several years in jail. He was released in 2004 and continued to be involved in politics.
In 2008, Zardari was elected as the President of Pakistan after Pervez Musharraf resigned from the post. During his presidency, he faced numerous challenges including rising terrorism, a struggling economy, and political instability. Zardari completed his five-year term as president in 2013.
Zardari continues to be involved in Pakistani politics and is a prominent member of the Pakistan Peoples Party.
